Residential
The apartment is located in the Lara district of Antalya, within a residential complex composed of two blocks, where all units follow a standardized typology.
The architectural design of the complex was conceived by Ercan Evren, one of Antalya’s distinguished and long-established architects.
The unit, with a gross area of 80 square meters, was originally planned as a 2-bedroom, 1-living room layout.
Prior to initiating the renovation process, I conducted a detailed analysis of the existing plans and identified several spatial and functional inefficiencies.
Despite its two-bedroom configuration, the apartment included only a single bathroom, and the kitchen layout offered limited usability. I also re-evaluated the spatial hierarchy and proportions of the rooms to improve functionality.
Without altering the structural load-bearing elements, I introduced a new circulation corridor, which allowed for the integration of two separate sanitary cores: a shared bathroom and an en-suite for the master bedroom. By aligning these wet areas back-to-back, a more efficient and compact plumbing strategy was achieved.
Additionally, through the strategic use of recessed furniture niches, I utilized an existing structural beam to optimize and expand the kitchen workspace, enhancing its ergonomics without compromising the spatial integrity.
All interior interventions were designed with respect to the architectural language and coherence of the existing structure. Design references were drawn directly from the building’s original architectural vocabulary.
Through just two subtle yet deliberate moves, the overall spatial comfort and functional performance of the apartment were significantly elevated.
