House for a Beatmaker
2024
Konyaalti , Antalya
Residential
This project was designed for a close friend of mine who is a musician. It involves a renovation of an apartment totaling 250 m², resulting from the amalgamation of two separate units. The apartment occupies the top floor of a building originally designed by a distinguished architect from Antalya in the 1970s.
The building itself comprises three individual apartments.
Structurally, the building features an outdated static solution known as a reversed beam system. Although the beams, which intersect at the junctions of the combined apartments, present significant challenges, they have also contributed to the project's unique identity.
The design approach involved configuring the space as a unified entity while maintaining the functionality of two distinct zones. This configuration allows the resident and any potential guests to coexist comfortably without encroaching upon each other's privacy.
The design aims to integrate communal and private living spaces harmoniously. My mood board was developed around four principal materials.
